By accessing this website and registering for the EarthXCG AI Climate Hackathon (the "Event"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions of Participation.
These Terms and Conditions govern your participation in the EarthXCG AI Climate Hackathon, held at Microsoft The Circle, Zurich, on May 5, 2026. By registering for or participating in the Event, you enter into a binding agreement with EarthXCG and accept these terms in their entirety.
Participants acknowledge that the Event is organised by EarthXCG in partnership with Microsoft, taking place during Climate Week Zurich 2026. Participation is voluntary, and participants confirm they meet any eligibility requirements communicated by the organisers.
All work, code, documentation, and materials created by participants during the Event (collectively, "Submissions") remain the intellectual property of the participant(s) who created them, subject to the following provisions:
By submitting work to the Event, participants grant EarthXCG a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, display, distribute, and reference the Submission for promotional, educational, and marketing purposes related to the Event and EarthXCG's activities. This license includes the right to showcase Submissions in presentations, publications, case studies, and other materials.
EarthXCG does not claim ownership of any Submission. The license granted under Section 3.2 does not transfer ownership rights and does not prevent participants from using, licensing, or commercializing their Submissions independently.
Participants are responsible for ensuring that all third-party tools, APIs, software libraries, machine learning models, and datasets used in their Submissions are used in accordance with applicable licenses, terms of service, and usage restrictions.

Participants are solely responsible for ensuring their Submissions comply with all applicable data protection and privacy laws.

Participants must comply with all rules and regulations of the host venue, Microsoft The Circle, including but not limited to security protocols, facility usage guidelines, and health and safety requirements.
EarthXCG reserves the right to disqualify any participant whose conduct is deemed inappropriate, disruptive, or in violation of these Terms and Conditions, without refund or compensation.
Participants acknowledge that they participate in the Event voluntarily and at their own risk. EarthXCG, Microsoft, and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates (collectively, "Released Parties") shall not be liable for any injury, loss, damage, or expense arising from participation in the Event.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Released Parties disclaim all liability for:

By registering for the Event, participants consent to EarthXCG collecting and processing personal data (including name, email address, organisation, and team information) for the following purposes:

Personal data will be retained only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined above and in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
Participants acknowledge that the Event may be photographed, filmed, and recorded by EarthXCG, its partners, and media representatives. By participating, participants grant EarthXCG the right to use their name, likeness, voice, and biographical information in connection with Event-related publicity, marketing, and promotional materials, without compensation.
EarthXCG shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing obligations under these Terms and Conditions due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, civil unrest, government actions, pandemics, or failures of third-party services. In such circumstances, EarthXCG reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or modify the Event without liability.
EarthXCG reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Participants will be notified of material changes via email or through the Event website. Continued participation following notification constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Switzerland, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms and Conditions or the Event shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Zurich, Switzerland.
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
These Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement between participants and EarthXCG regarding participation in the Event and supersede all prior or contemporaneous understandings, agreements, representations, and warranties.
